The Home Stretch

Hello, fellow readers,

J.J. here, back again to update you on the progress of my latest novel. I hope that everyone has been having a great summer. Of course if you’re in the southern hemisphere, it’s winter for you, so I hope that’s going well too.

For me, summer has been quiet as usual. Being born a ‘ginger’ or redhead as we say here in Canada, the sun and I have an understanding: I don’t stay in direct sunlight for more than a few minutes and the sun doesn’t set me on fire. Seems to be working out fairly well so far.

Now, on to the update. I’ve just begun my first readthrough of my current novel. As a reminder, it’s the 2nd book in the series ‘The War of Light and Shadow’. I’ve decided on a working title: ‘A Black Moon Rises’. That’s subject to change, of course. I always allow the book to dictate its own title depending on the content and, of course, that content can change at any time during editing and polishing until I decide to publish the novel. I’ll let you know what the final title is when we get to that point.

This part of the writing process is the most exciting for me. After 8 months or so of storytelling, I can now read the book with fresh eyes. This one is the longest novel that I’ve ever written, which is weird because that wasn’t my goal. I always want to write something that I, as a reader, would want to read. But these things happen and the book almost always ends up dictating its own length and content to me, the author. Strange, but that is my process for better or for worse.

Anyway, I just wanted to keep you abreast of what’s been happening with the book. I’m eager to release this one, but not until it’s as polished as I can make it. Enjoy the rest of the season and I’ll drop another post as things progress,

Take care and keep reading!

J.J.
